The competition, which organized by TÜBİTAK Science and Society, took place in Kocaeli Korfez Circuit under three categories: Electormobile, Hydromobile and Autonomous.
A total of 39 teams passed the technical inspection in Electromobile category. In Hydromobile, 8 teams completed the inspections successfully. For the first time in the Challenge history, teams have had the chance to compete in Autonomous category. Team AESK from Yıldız Technical University got the first place in this category, by completing mission 120-meter mission path in 62 seconds.
In Electromobile and Hydromobile categories, races were held in two rounds on August 10 and August 12. Teams in Electromobile and Hydromobile categories were required to consume as minimum energy as possible and complete 30 laps and 20 laps, respectively. The final standings in each category was determined based on the best scores teams had in both rounds. Team ElektroAydın Hexagon from İstanbul Aydın University got the first place in Electomobile category. In Hyrdomobile category, the winner is Team AESK from Yıldız Teknik University. Team ElectroAydın also qualified for the Efficiency Record Award by completing the race with as little as 730 Wh of energy consumption.
Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University got the Technical Design award with their vehicle Uğur Böceği in Electromobile category. The award is given to the Team UMAKİT from Uludağ University in Hyrdomobile category.
The Visual Design award is shared between three teams: KTO Karatay University - Diriliş 1251, Gaziantep University - Ecotron 3 and Karadeniz Technical University - Sirius.
The Jury Award in Electromobile category is given to the following teams: Yaman Team from Adıyaman University, Dicle-Tech Team from Dicle University, IARES Electromobile Team from Osmaniye Korkut Ata University and Team AİBUCAR from Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University. In Hydromobile category, Team HidroAna from Anadolu University HidroAna is deemed worthy of the award.
During the competition week, Doğan KABAK, an automobile journalist, visited the participating teams and performed test drives with their vehicles.
The award ceremony took place on August 12, 2018 with participation of President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL and Zekeriya ÖZAK, Deputy of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor.
